As we type, the first deaf-owned restaurant in a major city, and 16th Street's first Neapolitan pizzeria, is getting set to swing open its doors to the public. Mozzeria (3228 16th Street), the dream project of first-time restaurateur Melody and Russell Stein, is bound to find an audience quickly because a) we all love a good backstory, and b) we all love pizza. As we discussed before, the menu will include pastas and other dishes, and the pizzas will be both traditionally Neapolitan, and non-traditional with toppings like roast duck, hoisin sauce, and spring onion.
