Mozzeria opened over the weekend in San Francisco. Set on 16th Street, it’s a pizza joint, but perhaps more notably, it’s also the city’s first and only deaf-owned restaurant. The husband-and-wife duo of Melody and Russell Stein — and many of their workers — are deaf, and use ASL to communicate in the restaurant. (KQED has a great piece with the owners.) The restaurant itself (click here for the menu) is obviously centered around Neapolitan-style pies, but there’s also charcuterie, pastas, and salads available.
