RESTAURANT MANAGER

Established in 2011, Mozzeria is a modern Neapolitan pizzeria which employs an all-Deaf team. We are committed to growing our team with the brightest and most talented people who share our vision and culture – to create better employment opportunities for Deaf people through the celebration of American Sign Language.

We are looking for a Manager for our San Francisco restaurant who is passionate, motivated, fun to work with, and organized. You should be self-starter who is comfortable in a fast-paced restaurant for our dinner service, as well as our food truck!

In addition to being fluent in American Sign Language, having the ability to motivate and lead our awesome team is a must. You should also have a very sharp eye for detail, always with the customer experience in mind.

Key Manager Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

Service & Hospitality: Our team is encouraged to share our enthusiasm with our guests

  • Guide Team Leaders and staff to ensure the service and hospitality standards of Mozzeria are upheld during every service.
  • Encourage all staff to be proactive in taking initiative with improving all aspects of service.
  • Motivate the team through daily lineups – service strategy and application of company core values.
  • Ensure day and evening Team Leader notes and checklists are completed.
  • Foster a fun work environment through recognition, friendly competition and respect.
  • Guide and coach the team to read and understand the guest and situations and react effectively.
  • Lead monthly training to help build knowledge of our offering and the brand, be able to represent Mozzeria positively in all media.
  • Be proactive in finding ways to generate raves and reviews for restaurant as well as individual team members.
  • Encourage the team to create returning customers each and every day.

People + Leadership: Build a top-notch team – focus on building strong culture, continuous hiring, heightened on-boarding processes and ongoing training

  • Interview, screen, hire employees.
  • Oversee and manage the schedule of employees.
  • Provide continuous training and leadership to develop individual skills and instill a can-do attitude.
  • Hold employees accountable for all standards and practices, evaluating and/or following disciplinary procedure when necessary.
  • Ensure that all employees receive quarterly and yearly performance reviews.
  • Conduct exit interviews when an employee is leaving the company.
  • Ensure Team Leader leads all training for new employees according to Mozzeria standards for hospitality and excellence.
  • Provide continuous, gracious feedback and guidance to Team Leaders and staff.
  • Lead weekly management meetings with Team Leaders, keeping them informed of the direction of the business, events, strategy and priorities - always maintaining alignment with the mission and vision of the venue and the company.

Operations: Guide all teams to run an efficient and effective business

  • Maintain a beautiful and clean restaurant and food truck at all times.
  • Review and maintain facilities routine maintenance sheet.
  • Address all maintenance in a timely and in a cost-effective manner.
  • Coordinate and execute PR, social media and other marketing outreach.
  • Ensure that the restaurant remains compliant with all local, state and federal employment law.
  • Coordinate Food Truck operations, oversee continuous maintenance and permit compliance.
  • Work with Team Leaders to maintain good standing with Health Department.
  • Maintain safe, secure and healthy environment by establishing, following and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures, as well as safety standards and practices.
  • Maintain ambiance, cleanliness of linens, glassware, dinnerware, utensils, and monitor food presentation and service.

Performance & Profitability: Ensure consistency of brand and product while achieving desired profitability

  • Work closely with Operations Manager toward financial goals for restaurant and food truck.
  • Control P&L including food, labor and operating cost controls by analyzing variances and initiating corrective action to maintain financial course.
  • Remain focused on ways to maximize sales while maintaining consistency in brand and guest experience.
  • Analyze work processes to determine effective system improvements and recommendations.
  • Monitor and run payroll reports.

Manager Skills and Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must be dependable, reliable and motivated

  • Knowledge of G Suite a strong plus
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with co-workers and the public
  • Conflict resolution and decision-making in ambiguous situations
  • Must be able to work ten hour-plus shifts, plus ability to stand, sit, squat or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with guests, management, co-workers and vendors
  • Must be able to grasp, reach overhead, push, lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Satisfactory driving record in past five years
  • Must be able to attain Manager Food Safety Certification within 30 days of hire
  • Proficient in American Sign Language

pizza maker

PIZZA MAKER

Performs as Pizza Maker for the Restaurant and Food Truck shifts.

Job Type: Part-time, non-exempt (hourly)

Reports to: Team Leaders

Evaluation: 90 days.

Duties

  • Stretch, prep, proper assemble and bake pizza according to VPN and restaurant standards.
  • Prepare a variety of meats, vegetables, and other food items for cooking in a variety of other kitchen equipment.
  • Understand and comply consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and rules, policiies and procedures.
  • Handle, store and rotate all products properly (FIFO) while completing opening/closing checklists.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work/service area including tables, shelves, walls, oven, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Take food orders from guests; accurately enter orders in our point-of-sale system which relays orders to the kitchen.
  • Accept payment, process credit card charges or make change accurately.
  • Monitor and observe guests' dining experience. Ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service including responding promptly and courteously to any requests.
  • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the manager or team leader.
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement.

Requirements

  • Complete and maintain Food Handler Certification in good standing upon hire.
  • Fluent in American Sign Language.
  • Highly motivated, self directed, efficiently communicate with other staff.

food truck driver

FOOD TRUCK DRIVER

Responsible for driving Mozzeria Food Truck to designated events and prep and bake pizzas

Job Type: Part-time, non-exempt (hourly)

Reports to: Team Leaders

Evaluation: 90 days.

Duties

  • Pick up and drop off food inventory surplus.
  • Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas by hand or use of hand truck.
  • Inspect and maintain vehicle, adding fluids and oil, check tires, brakes, lights, and gas.
  • Read and interpret maps and GPS directions, monitor traffic conditions to avoid delays.
  • Follow traffic signs and street signs to get to destination.
  • Arrive and Depart Food Truck events in timely manner.
  • Encourages highest level of sales and customer service performance.
  • Provide customer service at food events including interacting with other food truck staff.
  • Assist in monitoring productivity in food sales and food flow.
  • Cook the exact number of items ordered by each customer, working on several different orders simultaneously.
  • Bake pizzas of different sizes and utilizing appropriate pizza peels.
  • Work with KDS system and complete orders in timely manner
  • Practices food safety and sanitation including knowledgeable of proper temperature for all food items either stored or during service.
  • Complete daily opening and closing procedures in accordance with company policy.
  • All other responsibilities as directed by the business or as assigned by Team Leaders and Manager.

Requirements

  • Complete and maintain Food Handler Certification in good standing upon hire.
  • Clean driving record of 7 years or more.

  • Fluent in American Sign Language.
  • Highly motivated, self directed, efficiently communicate with other staff.
